Tom McKibban, C.R.N.A., M.S., is a past president of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) and a practicing certified registered nurse anesthetist. He is one of the original Board members of the Council on Surgical and Perioperative Safety.
McKibban has been a practicing certified registered nurse anesthetist for more than 32 years, working at Butler County Anesthesia Services, LLC in El Dorado, Kansas. He provides general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, obstetrical anesthesia, and pain management.
McKibban served as president of the AANA from 2003 – 2004 and remains involved in AANA committees and the on the Council on Surgical and Perioperative Safety. He has served various capacities at the AANA since 1991. McKibban is also past president of the Kansas Association of Nurse Anesthetists, where he held other senior and committee positions. He is past chairman of the Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists, and has been active in his local school board, community college, chamber of commerce and local chapter of the American Red Cross.
McKibban earned his master's degree in Nurse Anesthesia from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. He completed his bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas, his diploma in Nurse Anesthesia from Wichita Physicians School of Nurse Anesthesia in Wichita, Kansas, and earned his nursing diploma from the St. Francis School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas.
