Gemma Fournier CST, RN, MSN, FAST
Gemma Fournier is a faculty member at Niagara County Community College (NCCC) as the Surgical Technology Program Coordinator and Professor for the past 23 years. She is Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), a New York State Registered Nurse, and a member of the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST), and Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). In 1989, she started her career in surgery and was employed as a certified surgical technologist at a local hospital in Niagara Falls, NY.
At the state level, Gemma is serving as the NYAST President and delegate. Also, she has served as the NYAST Vice-President, Secretary and Board of Director.
At the national level both representing AST, she is serving on the Council on Surgical & Perioperative Safety Board of Directors (CSPS) and on the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) planning committee for the 2018 Surgical Conference & Expo. In the past, Gemma has served as the Chairperson and member on the AST Education and Professional Standards Committee (ESPC) for 3 terms. She attends and has presented at the AST Annual National Conferences and AST Educators Conferences, and has been on various committees for AST and National Board of Surgical Technologists and Surgical Assistants, also known as the NBSTSA.
Gemma has earned her Bachelors Degree in Nursing at Niagara University, and her Masters in Nursing from the University of Phoenix.
In May 2012, she was honored to receive the Fellows of Surgical Technologists (FAST) Award and in May 2013, received the AST Didactic Educators Award and in November 2013, received the State of New York (SUNY) Chancellors Excellence in Teaching Award from NCCC.
Gemma is a member of Lewiston Porter Central School District Board of Education.
