The CSPS endorses all measures to reduce the risk of fire in the perioperative period. These measures include, but are not limited to, use of the lowest possible inspired oxygen concentration in proximity to an ignition source, flame retardant drapes, and the safe use of antiseptic skin preparation solutions, electrocautery, and laser devices.
